The Game of Thrones a Song of Ice and Fire contains many themes such as Politics and Society, everyone being capable of treachery, and Family.

Politics and Society

The theme of politics and society is that one throne unifies the land but the rich fight over who will sit upon it. There is no true king the land it is just the most powerful corrupt rich whose only interest is their own prestige. There is a poor but honorable North against a rich and cunning South. Power is continually shifting and changing, and even when you've got it, always someone else who's ready to take over.

Everyone is capable of treachery

The Game of Thrones is full of treachery and betrayals, even the righteous and principled characters commit these betrayals. Which fits with the theme that everyone is capable of treachery. But in order to betray someone that said person must have some sort of trust in you. Which means for all these betrays there is an equal amount of trust. Trust is important because no one man can accomplish much on his own. But this open you up to a major risk.

Family
In most of the decisions whether political or not most decisions is the main priority. This creates most seems where if two people are its is rarely about just them and more likely a clash between their families or houses. But in this time your family can leave you for example if your a bastard, a dwarf or even just not being the first born son you could get kicked out of your own family. This creates a sense of fear in families tat if one does not uphold their honor they could be abandoned.

Found poem of everyone is capable of treachery

“The Spider has taken a great interest in you and all your doings”
“You are slow to learn, Lord Eddard. Distrusting me was the wisest thing you've done since you climbed down off your horse.”
“Lord Baelish, what you suggest is treason.”
“ Only if we lose.”
“slid Ned's dagger from its sheath and shoved it up under his chin. His smile was apologetic. "I did warn you not to trust me, you know.”
“My words lied. My eyes and my arm shouted out the truth, but you were not seeing”
“That was a lie you told yourself. You knew the price.”
